<br /> <br />4.4 RECLAMATION PLAN <br />4.4.1 GENERAL <br />All lands disturbed by Snowmass Coal Company will be restored to bene- <br />ficial land use under the terms of this permit and the applicable <br />regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board. With the <br />exception of certain roads, all disturbed areas will be reclaimed by <br />revegetation. <br />Reclamation at the mine and at the loadout areas are treated separa- <br />tely. Revegetation work at the mine has been divided into interim <br />work, currently in progress, and final work which will take place at <br />the cessation of operations. Both an interim and a final reclamation <br />plan for the loadout are also included. <br />• 4.4.2 MINE <br />4.4.2.1 Reclamation Timetable <br />Reclamation at the mine area is divided into two phases, interim <br />reclamation and final reclamation. Interim reclamation has been in <br />progress for 6 years and will proceed for another 1 to 2 years of ini- <br />tial seeding. After 1983, reclamation of these areas will consist <br />primarily of maintenance operations. Permanent establishment of <br />seeded and planted areas will take 4 to 6 years to ensure, depending <br />on weather conditions. <br />The refuse disposal area will be reclaimed incrementally as the pile <br />is constructed. The first increment was seeded in 1979, final recla- <br />mation should be complete within 5 years after the cessation of opera- <br />tions, with revegetation commencing in the fall immediately after <br />• final grading and tops oiling. <br />4-41 <br />
