The rubble was observed at locations that will be graded and
sloped as the final side slopes of the Inined pit.
At this time United Companies is submitting this Notice to the Office of Mined Land
Reclamation of the Division of Minerals and Geology that inert materials will be placed
as structural fill a[ this gravel pit.
Rule 3.1.5(9) of the Construction Materials Rules and Regulations lists information to be
included in [he Notice provided to the Office.
(a) A narrative that describes the approximate location of the proposed activity.
Concrete rubble, generated off site, will be placed as structural till near the south
excavation limit of the gravel pit. The material will be brought to the site and
placed at the toe of the excavated slope at the south side of the pit. As gravel
extraction continues the inert rubble material may be distributed along the base of
the mined slope if there is rubble material. The supply of rubble material is not
constant but fluctuates according to off site construction project activity. Most
parts of the pit's excavation area Have not and will not have rubble placed.
Concrete rubble has been placed beginning at a point approximately 400 hundred
feet west of the Southeast comer of the pit. Rubble has been placed in the backfill
approximately 2,400 hundred feet to the West of the beginning point to the area
where the rubble was observed during the inspection on March 14. This 2400 ft
long area is the only area where rubble has been placed in this pit.
