Dapf. of fNz'urzf Resources <br />RE: Temporary Cessation of Operations at Wyoming Fuel Company's <br />Canadian Strip Mine. near Walden, Colorado <br />Dear Mr. Shelton: <br />By this letter Wyoming Fuel Company is submitting a notice of <br />intent to temporarily cease operations at the Canadian Strip Aline <br />near Walden, Colorado. <br />Wyoming Fuel Company intends to cease operations on July 15,~' <br />1982.':' In accordance with Section 4.30.1 of the Regulations of the <br />Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining we are pro- <br />viding the following information. <br />Prior to cessation of operations we will have disturbed 81 <br />acres. Approximately 24 acres of this has been topsoiled and <br />seeded. The extent of the pit is approximately 600 feet wide by <br />3600 feet long .and 200 feet deep. <br />Reclamation prior to the above date has included 24 acres <br />which have been topsoiled and seeded and 16 acres of overburden <br />stockpile graded to near the final contour. <br />The activities which will continue during the temporary cess- <br />ation will include minimal shaping and grading required to pre- <br />vent erosion in the overburden stockpile area, environmental moni- <br />toring including monthly checks of static water levels, quarterly <br />water quality sampling; NPDES compliance, routine maintenance of <br />ditches, culverts and other water treatment facilities and finally <br />efforts by Wyoming Fuel Company to meet all permit requirements and <br />stipulations imposed by our permit. All stipulations will be met <br />which do not involve earth moving activities. Those activities <br />~thich require earth moving or new disturbances will not be met, <br />rather an extension to these stipulations is requested by Wyoming <br />EUel Company. <br />
