DiClaudio, President <br />Mountain Coal Company <br />PO Box 591 <br />Somerset, CO 81434 <br />Deaz Mr. DiClaudio: <br />On June 13, 2000, the Department of the Interior approved a mining plan modification for <br />Federal lease COC-56447 at Mountain Coal Company's West Elk Mine. Approval of this <br />mining plan modification supplements the mining plan for Federal leases C-1362, C-0117192, <br />D-044569, COC-54558 and COC-56447 at your West Elk Mine. <br />I have enclosed a copy of the mining plan approval document and associated map for this mining <br />• plan action. Please read the terms and conditions of the mining plan approval document <br />cazefully. Mining and reclamation operations must be conducted in accordance with both the <br />Colorado state permit and the approved mining plans. <br />The June 13, 2000, approval allows you to mine an additional 18 million tons of Federal coal <br />from 1,410 acres of Federal lease COC-56447 .
