~ ~
~ If the condition of the range deteriorates, cheatgrass, broom
~•~~akeweed, annual sunflowers, and Fendler threeawn increase. Where
the range is in poor condition, these plants are dominant. Grazing
should be managed so that the desirable balance of species ~s
maintained in the plant community.
If the range vegetation is seriously deteriorated, seeding ~s
needed. The plants selected for seeding should meet the seasonal
requirements of livestock or wildlife, or both.
The management practices suitable for use on this unit are proper
,jrazing use and a planned grazing system. Brush management improves
deteriorated areas of range that are producing more woody shrubs than
were present in the potential plant community.
This unit provides wildlife habitat for mule deer, cottontail,
hawks, and eagles.
If this unit is used for irrigated crops, the main limitation is
depth to bedrock.
Under a high level of management, this unit is capable of
producing 5.5 tons of alfalfa hay per acre, 4.5 tons of grass hay per
acre, 80 bushels of oats per acre, 110 bushels of barley per acre, or
?0 tons of corn silage per acre.
This unit is well suited to recreational development.
If this unit is used for homesite development, the main
limitations are depth to bedrock and moderate shrink-swell potential.
if this unit is used for septic tank absorption fields, the main
limitation is depth to bedrock.
This map unit is in capability subclasses IIIe, irrigated, .+nd
IYc, nonirrigated. It is in Semidesert Loam N325 range site.
~Jc`
