If the condition of the range deteriorates, cheatgrass, broom
,nakeweed, annual sunflowers, and Fendler threeawn increase. Whore
the range is in poor condition, these plants are dominant. Grazing
m ould be managed so that the desirable balance of species is
maintained in the plant community.
If the range vegetation is seriously deteriorated, seeding ~s
needed. For successful seeding, a seedbed should be prepared and the
seeds drilled. The plants selected for seeding should meet the
seasonal requirements of livestock or wildlife, or both.
The management practices suitable for use on this unit are proper
grazing use and a planned grazing system. Brush management improves
deteriorated areas of range that are producing more woody shrubs than
were present in the potential plant community.
This unit ~s poorly suited to recreational development. It is
limited mainly by depth to bedrock.
If this unit is used for homesite development, the main limitation
is depth to bedrock.
This map unit is in capability subclasses VIs, nonirrigated. The
I'~non soils are in Pinyon-Juniper woodland site and the Progresso
soils are in Semidesert Loam Y325 range site.
3~~z
