Box 187
Rockvale, Colorado 81244-0187
RE: Twin Pines Stipulation Status (C-83-058)
Dear Chris;
This letter is to clarify the status of the stipulations on the recently
renewed Twin Pines mine permit. As I explained to Larry White, the three
new stipulations are in the permit document because they had not yet been
addressed at the time the documents were prepared. However, they were
addressed at the end of the renewal process and have been satisfied.
A copy of the application for modification of the mine's NPDES permit
(dated March 28, 1990) was received, satisfying stipulation No. 10.
Materials and data submitted to amend Sec. 2,05 addressed the issue of mine
water passing through the bench sediment pond. The Division determined based
on this data, that the pond is adequately sized so, stipulation No. 11 is
satisfied.
Stipulation No. 12 was satisfied by revision of p. 75 to indicate that runoff
from topsoil stockpiles was contained by berms and vegetative cover.
Stipulation No. 3 remains from the original Findings document and will be
relevant should the operation decide to make beneficial use of the mine water
discharge.
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Larry P.
