pbnds are excavated in a basaltic mud flow alluvial material with a very high
permeability. Leakage through this sand-gravel-boulder material could easily be
confused with subsidence affects.
~VorstaQas[~ss3~napos~f~,ofrttie~Seroggit~'s~gs?rhis[differe~Ti'allis~ttlingtcausirrg
'~;~ aC1Cde~oandatibr~ The house is modular which should be rigid enough
to allow some differential settling before damage to the house occurs. The
modular design will allow releveling in the future. The floor in the shop may
crack but the pole barn type construction should not suffer any significant
damage.
(c) Subsidence monitoring networks were established along the centerline of the
Ute Water pipeline and over 2nd and 3rd East room-and-pillar panels at the
Roadside South Portals to determine the commencement and magnitude of
~~~~ subsidence movements. The location of the monitoring points are mapped in
Exhibits 29 and 30. As stated previously, no further mining is planned in the
area of the Ute Water pipeline. Surveying of the monuments over the pipeline
was discontinued in 1986 upon approval of technical revision TR-08. The
monuments will remain in place to allow future monitoring, if necessary.
~ The subsidence monitoring program for 2nd and 3rd East panels was designed
to determine the critical parameters for room-and-pillar mining panels at the
Roadside South Mine. The locations of the monitoring points for this program
are mapped in Exhibits 29 and 30. Results of the most recent survey of the
2nd and 3rd East monuments are depicted in the subsidence graphs of Exhibit
J ~°~ ~ 48, RS-21-018, RS-21-019, RS-21-020, and RS-21-022 through RS-21-025.
This information allowed the determination of actual angle-of-draw and
maximum subsidence over areas of maximum mining recovery. The survey
also confirmed the adequacy of the protective pillars retained in the Rapid
Creek area over the 3rd East Panel. Monitoring of these monuments was
20-8 (NEW 311/96)
