DEPARTMENT OF `NATURAL RESOURC~MM ~ v ~ ~~ III III III III IIII III
D. Monte Pascoe, Executive Director
MINED LAND RECLAMA'I'lON
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel. (303) 839-3567
David C. Shelton
Director
December 22, 1980
Mrs. Margaret Winter
Flatiron Paving Company
P.O. Box 229
Boulder, Colorado 80306
Dear Margie:
In relation to our concerns over ditch D at the Bourg Strip
Mine, and pursuant to our prior phone conversation, this office
has not received the updated maps illustrating calculations and
the pit which will contain runoff from ditch D. Please send this
information as soon as possible.
I must caution Flatiron that even through ditch D was approved in
your permit; if 'on the ground' inspections reveal problems with
the practicality of the design we have the authority to require
the operator to institute necessary changes (per Rule 4,05).
On another subject, the Colorado State Program was published on
December 15, 1980, in the Federal Register. This initiates the
60 day timeclock for submission of a complete permit application
addressing the rules and regulations of the permanent State programs.
A complete permit application for coal mining and reclamation is
due in this office on or before February 15, 1981.
If you have any questions feel free to call.
Sincerely,
Michael S. Savage
Reclamation Specialist
MSS:mab
