Throughout the~ocess of obtaining the permit were exposed to the
problems which can occur when several government agencies start considering a
permit, especially when the agencies have rather diverse interests. A great
• concern was expressed by the Colorado Division of Wildlife who kept insisting
that our work would adversely affect the fishery resource in Fountain Creek, of
which there is essentially none in this portion of the stream. This
considerably delayed the issuance of the permit. After issuance of the permit,
the work was completed and has now been fully approved by the Corps of
E7igineers .
Today, the banks are secure, show little erosion, are covered with a heavy
growth of grass and are being invaded strongly by the typical cottonwood and
willow forests that line the creek in the, places where the bank on other parts
of the stream course have not been destroyed by floods or human activities.
