precipitation events. Corrective measures and maintenance items will be prioritized and timely
performed based on these inspections.
4.7.4 Grading
Inspections will be performed periodically during all phases of the project to ensure that
eatthmoving activities remain within the perimeter of the controlled disturbance area. During
reclamation phases, inspections will focus on the creation of positive drainage in the
postmirting topography and on proper construction and placement of permanent drainage
structures to provide stability.
4.7.5 Interim Vegetation Monitoring
Two interrelated but distinctly different types of monitoring will be performed on revegetated
areas. Interim monitoring will be conducted to qualitatively evaluatie the germination,
establishment and growth of temporary and permanent vegetation on soil stockpiles, within
drainage structures, on road cuts and fills, on erosion and sediment control structures, and
within recently seeded pemrnanenily revegetated azeas. Revegetation success monitoring will be
performed after revegetated areas have established themselves and a restored area is ready for
final release from reclamation performance liabilities. Interim revegetation inspections are
described in this subsection.
During or towazds the end of the first full growing season following temporary, interim or
permanent revegetation operations, reseeded areas will be monitored for adequate germination
and establishment, and to identify problem areas. Stand germination anti establishment may
take several growing seasons before full expression of the seed mixture is realized.
Inspections will focus on surface hydrologic stability and on the aduluacy of vegetation
establishment. For areas with hydrologic instability problems, appropriate corrective
stabilization measures will be implemented. When vegetation establishment is a problem,
additional site evaluation may be necessary. If soil suitability or fertility is suspected as the
cause, samples may be taken from the disturbed area for analysis of appropriate pazameters. If
environmental conditions are suspect, interseeding, the addition of soil amendments or other
courses of action may be necessary. Inspection results will be evalual:ed, and appropriate
management methods and practices will be planned and implemented to etu,ure that revegetation
goals are achieved.
4.7.6 Waste Management
American Soda will promptly remove and properly dispose of all waste in accordance with
applicable regulations to an approved landfill, as directed by the BLM. Waste includes all
discazded matter including, but not limited to, human waste, trash, garba@;e, refuse, petroleum
products ashes and equipment.
Atnetican Soda.
