Banta,
Division Director
On September 23, 1991 I spoke with Karen Fox of the Routt County Planners
Office. Ms. Fox relayed to me her recent conversation with Mr. John Eilts and
his counsel. One item which was brought up was John's assertion that Sun Coal
had mined gravel at or near the Meadows #1 Coal Mine. Karen recalled having
given a special use permit to Sun for gravel mining and called to verify with
us. Our operator list indicates that Sun Coal did indeed have a sand and
gravel permit in the late '70s. The file number is M-77-178. The operation
was terminated and the file is presumably stored in archives since it is not
on our shelf. The operation was called Meadows 1{1 and affected 9.7 acres.
STATE O~ COLORADO
8402E/lac
