BOX 624 ASPEN, COLORADO 81612 PHONE 303-925-3822 v~~~d ~ 1993 ::ro~s~on ,~ e.,u~~roz: a In mid May 1993 I discover an alarming fact which had been quit puzzling for me during the last few months about a domestic spring in Lone Pine Gulch and the mass subsidence of our land. Upon meeting with Kathy Welt and two of her colleagues from Mountain Coal I became aware of trie fact that this area had been mined by their Company. Upon talking with you in mid May about the situation of the subsidence on our property which had been mined by the West Elk Coal Mine aka Mountain Coal. I have enclose the photo's taken on May 22, 1993 which I had promised. You will find a map of our property in section 20 showing where the spring is located. Also the new fault location shown in photo's number 5, 6,7,and 8. The photo of the spring number 1 and areas around the spring, number's 2,3 and 4. Number 2 in particular shows the broken pipe which carried the water to the cabin. The surface is now 4 feet below where it had been. The water pipe in suspended above the surface where it has been broken form the ground subsiding. When you look at the photograph # 1 notice that water is no longer flowing out of the spring or the pipe as it had prior to July 1992.
