Drawer L
Fruita, Colorado 81521
RE: Review of Revegetation Monitoring Reports for
(File No. C-020-81) and McClave Canyon (File
Dear Mr. Walters:
Mu~ge~Canyon
No. C-004-80) Mines
Mike Savage has recently completed a review of the above referenced reports.
The reports were well prepared and informative about the progress of the
revegetatton of the sites. At the time of the sampling (July-August, 1983)
revegetatton was successful 1n terms of exceeding baseline values for
herbaceous cover and production at both sites. Woody plants at both sites
were in evidence, but not at levels approximating pre-mining. Both sites were
initially seeded 1n 1979 with additional yearly seeding occurring on areas of
low cover.
Salt Creek Mtntng requested that revegetation monitoring be suspended until
further disturbance occurs. Based an the fact that revegetatton undertaken at
the sites to date has been temporary in nature and will be modified by future
activities, the Division hereby suspends the requirement for further
revegetation monitoring at these sites until permanent revegetation occurs an
any area at either site.
If you have any questions, please call.
Si cerely,
~ .-C~L,LCY-
Jtm erron
Reclamation Specialist
JH/ep
Doc.
