RANGELY TIP4ES
;~~p:
~`
COLCiRt~I.U'4
PR~:y
1'Jinninn SE!rviCB -
NacholitE~
mining ~,~
one step
closer to
realit ~
Y r`'
s~~Y~`-'
by Robee H~wg
The nacholite mining
plant of NaTec Minerals,
Inc. is one step closer to
reality. The County Com-
missioners at their last reg-
ular-- meeting held in Meek-
er unanimously ok~ed_ a
special use permit for their
plant to be located in the
o[her end of the County,
conditional to approval-of
themFre ~~ing_pr~em
by the Fire Di::trict in
Meeker.
There were two items for
which no decision was tak-
en because County Attor-
ney Buck Benner was not
present. TheseHill be
brought up at the April 9th
meeting. The orte that
brought forth the most dis-
cussion was the request of
the people living down riv-
er from Rangely fir mos-
quito control. Various meth-
ods of government and pri-
vate citizen cooperation
were discussed.
The other item was an
agreement proposed by the
Town of Rangely for shar-
ing maintenance on the
Senior Citizens grounds.
This, as per the acceptance
of low bid at the last Coun-
cil meeting, will be through
True Value Hardware. Since
the proposed agreement
III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
was so worded that True
Value would be paid di-
rectly, the Commissioners
wondered whether or not
the matter should be sent
out to bid.
In a split vote the Com-
missioners approved spend-
ing 550,000 out of CCITF
funds for fixing the roof
and doing carpeting at the
County Courthouse in
Meeker. Commissioner Don
Davis saw the need but
voted no because he felt
County requests for spend-
ing out of CCITF was get-
ting too high.
In a unanimous vote, the
Commisstonen okayed a
draft of an agreement be-
tween the Commissioners
and the Boazd of Directors
of Pioneers Hospital in
Meeker regarding the Sen-
ior Transportation Program.
A request was made
from three Meeker wrestlers
who were State champions
for financial support in
attending the National High
School Wrestling Tourna-
ment. The Commissioners
did not feel that tax dollars
should be used for that
purpose but all three Com-
missioners, plus Public
Works Director Jerry Steele,
wrote individual $50
checks.
In a final action, the
Commissioners praised
Traffic Contro] Officer
Dallas Boren in his accom-
plishment of getting County
road signs in place.
> ~~ s. - --.,r~
