Lonµ
Drvisinn Direcmr
As you requested during our telephone conversation on May 3, 1993 here is a copy of
Western Fuel-Utah's proposed mine plan. Western Fuels also plans to mine the B seam in
the future but is currently developing orily the D seam. I have also included two pages from
the Deserado Mine Permit describing the methane treatment. The Division has not
required Western Fuels to report the volume of methane vented but I am aware that
Western Fuels does measure the concentration of the methane as it vents.
In 1992 Western Fuels extracted 1.9 million tons of raw coal from the Deserado mine.
Updates to the proposed mine plan are: Mining of longwall 5 occurred in 1992. Longwell
6 is currently in production. Preparations for mining longwall 7 are underway. To date
approximately 1000 acres have been mined, while roughly 1700 acres remain in the current
mine plan.
The permit is available for inspection at the Division of Minerals and Geology, 1313
Sherman st, room 215, Denver, CO 80203, and at the Rangely Town Clerk's office, in Town
Hall, Rangely, Colorado. If you need more details either inspection of the permit is
suggested or you may want to contact a representative of Western Fuels-Utah.
Sincerely,
anet .
