Following is information requested by the mle.
a. Mays Concrete Construction is currently perfomung work for the Bureau of Reclamation to construct a fish
ladder adjacent to the Grand Valley Diversion Dam. The project location is west of the I-70 Beaver Tail tunnel,
approximately 12 miles west of DeBeque. As part of the construction sequence, Mays is required to excavate
sediment deposited by the Colorado River over the years in order to construct a stable foundation for the fish
ladder. This sediment will then be hauled to the DeBeque Pit for placement. Gravel product from the DeBeque
Pit will be used to construct the foundation for the fish ladder.
b. Approximately 5,000 cubic yards of sediment deposited by the Colorado River will be imported.
c. I certify that to the best of my knowledge, the imported material is clean and contains no known toxic
substances.
d. The importation of this sediment will occur during the winter of 2003-2004. Weather conditions will dictate the
construction schedule.
e. The imported material will be utilized as backfill and reclamation of the pit
f The imported material will be placed in a manner as to prevent voids.
Please don't hesitate to call if you have any additional questions.
Respectfully,
Gayl .Lyman
Property Manager
Xc: Norm Lincoln, Special Projects Manager, Elam Construction
Thomas and Ginger Latham
