MCC's responses are
provided in the same order as the questions in your letter.
1. MCC believes that all springs in the Lone Pine Gulch drainage that were present at the
time (late 1970's) were identified during the original hydrologic survey conducted by Woodward-
Clyde Consultants. MCC also believes that all springs present in Lone Pine Gulch as of last
Summer have been identified. Note that a large part of the drainage is formed of landslide debris
(reference "Photogeologic Map of the Jumbo Mountain Area," [ntrasearch, Inc., September 29,
1993) and that springs in the area have been documented (prior to mining) to have relocated (e.g.,
G-26 to G-26a) due to landslide activity. Monitoring of spring G-26 was in fact discontinued in
1986, because landslides blocked access in Lone Pine Gulch. Spring CR-12, the adjudicated right
called Jrrrnbo Mountain Spring No. 3 Pond, was identified and mapped in an area below the F-
seanl outcrop (outside the original affected permit area and not affected by subsidence).
2. MCC believes that the description provided ir1 question No. 2 of the Division's letter of
January 13, 1994, and as shown on Map 2 of MCC's permit C-80-007, is current and accurate.
3. Yes, MCC believes that all "structures" in Lone Pine Gulch have been inventoried and
have been described in the permit document as suggested by the Division. As was stated in
MCC's original permit document, the structure inventory presented did not include structures or
remnants of such located below the F-seam outcrop (outside the original affected permit area).
The structure remnants in Lone Pine Gulch were not previously included with the discussions of
the Sylvester Gulch and upper meadow remnants For this reason. A map of the locations of these
"structures" is included with the archaeology report in Exhibit 10 of MCC's permit document.
