Presently,
Pond D can accept an additional(.08) cfs of flow and still be within design
criteria. ~~-'o~~l~ ~ ? Y~ - R:~i~ ~,;tls;a.eiy.~_. r~l
y ~:WO/
~%~~ti
During the May, 1988 spoil spring survey flow from Site 7 eras measured
at 0.99 cfs. This measurement was obtained on play 17, 1988. On Juiy 14,
1988 the site was monitored for flow and the field notes reveal that the
site was not discharging. In addition to the flow measurement obtained on
Piay 17, 1988, the total suspended solids concentration discharge was Cn
4 mg/1. - - _~__
pro ~s
Another poin at must be considered during the evaluation
' 16 rt,-
g
will be constructin a new dewaterie acilit ,
that the Foi reek mine
which will lscharge into Fish Creek. Once the facility is established,
appror.imate 0.1 5 w' T be pump'eb into Pond D. This wi71 resu]t in a
decrease of ap oximat y 0:2 cfs q #ioiv entering Pond D. Therefore, the
pond will be of suffici nt size to ndle a flow of up to 1 cfs from Site 7.
Given the above information, and the fact that CYCC did not exceed the
TSS standards during May, it is suggested that no further work be done to
increase the size of Pond D. The annual spoil spring study will be able to
determine if the discharge from Site 7 is increasing to the point that TSS
limits could be exceeded.
Also, the pond embankment has been inspected to determine if there zre
any stability probiems caused by tf)e increased flow from Site 7 during May.
The inspection indicate no stability problems resulted form the increased
flow.
6.v T ~ ~.~ w~.
;'
