Section IV -Permit Variances
The Division previously granted a variance from contemporaneous reclamation requirements for
the following areas:
The active Wolf Creek and Wadge mining areas may accumulate a maximum of two
spoil ridges which may be left ungraded longer than 180 days. This delay is necessary
because of production rates and pit sequencing. No more than two spoil ridges may
be left in place longer than 180 days, but up to four spoil ridges maybe left ungraded
within 180 days of initial placement. The four spoil ridges specified aze inclusive of
the two ridges that may be left longer than 180 days.
The solid waste disposal area will not be regraded until 1998. The disposal area, a
previously mined Wadge area pit, is currently in use.
A variance from contemporaneous reclamation for Auger Area E had previously been granted, but
is no longer necessary. The area, last mined in 1985, had been left open to facilitate future
underground mine portal faceups. PWCC commenced grading activities on the azea in June 1994.
The variances previously granted for the mining and waste disposal areas remain appropriate.
Scncca ii Mine (00.005) August 19, 1994
Midlenn Rc~iew ~] Thicd Pcrmit Term
