D-Seam on water quality within the mine.
C. Evaluation of Compliance
Acid-Forming and Toxic-Forming Sooil
The only material which could be considered spoil in the mine plan area is the
fill material used in the construction of surface facilities. The applicant
analyzed composite samples of the fill material which were composed of the
Upper and Lower Williams Fork Formations. None of this material is considered
acid or toxic-forming and no detrimental ground water impacts are expected.
The applicant is in compliance.
Mine Discharges
There are expected to be no discharges of ground water from the proposed mining
operation except to the head tank for storage and eventual use. Ground water
inflows are expected to be less than usage of the water for dust suppression
and storage capacity of material in the mine.
It is not certain if discharge of water through the portal areas is possible
subsequent to mining. The applicant has, however, proposed backfilling of the
portals and construction of concrete bulk heads to minimize possible
discharges. The applicant is in compliance.
Ground Water Recharge Capacity
The proposed operation will not significantly affect the recharge capacity of
the ground water. Most recharge areas are not in the mine plan area, or dis-
turbances which might affect recharge only cover small areas within the mine
plan area. The refuse pile does cover a large area, but is not in a signifi-
cant recharge area. Any aquifer which might be affected is of minor use and of
poor quality. The applicant is in compliance.
7
