the addition of approximately 6,050 acres to the existing permit area to recover <br />• coal from nine (9) coal seams of the Williams Fork Formation on approximately <br />905 acres within the area covered by Colorado State permit C-1981-019, in; <br />Township 3 North, Range 93 West 6`h P.M. <br />Sections 5, 7, 8, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 28, 29, 30; <br />Township 4 North, Range 93 West 6`s P.M. <br />Sections I5, 16, 21, 22, 28, 32, 33. <br />The life of the mining operations is not expected to change under Colorado Permit <br />C-1981-019 and this proposed mining plan modification due to increases in production <br />rates to meet contract obligations. <br />The average production rate and the maximum production rate would increase to 5.8 <br />million tons per year and vary from 5.8 to 6.0 million tons per year for the life of the <br />mining operation. <br />The approved State permit area would increase by 6,050 acres from its present 7,531 <br />acres to a new total of 13,581 acres. <br />• Surface disturbance within the approved State permit area will increase by 905 acres from <br />its present 3,837 acres to a new total of 4,742 acres. <br />This mining plan modification will add 5,219 acres of Federal coal for recovery to the <br />approved mining plan area shown on the map included with this decision document. <br />Approval of this mining plan modification will authorize mining of an additional 43.0 <br />million tons of recoverable Federal coal. <br />Approximately 2,223 acres of Federal surface lands will be included in the mining plan <br />area as a result of this action. <br />The post mining land use within the permit and mining plan area will not change. <br />The CO-DRMS has placed nine (9) Special Conditions to its permitting action. An <br />explanation of each Special Condition and the requirements for its resolution can be <br />found in the State Decision Document made a part of this Mining Plan Decision <br />Document. <br />Colowyo Coal Company, L.P.'s mining plan modification does not require any additional <br />Special Conditions to comply with Federal laws. <br />• <br />
