the addition of approximately 6,050 acres to the existing permit area to recover • coal from nine (9) coal seams of the Williams Fork Formation on approximately 905 acres within the area covered by Colorado State permit C-1981-019, in; Township 3 North, Range 93 West 6`h P.M. Sections 5, 7, 8, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 28, 29, 30; Township 4 North, Range 93 West 6`s P.M. Sections I5, 16, 21, 22, 28, 32, 33. The life of the mining operations is not expected to change under Colorado Permit C-1981-019 and this proposed mining plan modification due to increases in production rates to meet contract obligations. The average production rate and the maximum production rate would increase to 5.8 million tons per year and vary from 5.8 to 6.0 million tons per year for the life of the mining operation. The approved State permit area would increase by 6,050 acres from its present 7,531 acres to a new total of 13,581 acres. • Surface disturbance within the approved State permit area will increase by 905 acres from its present 3,837 acres to a new total of 4,742 acres. This mining plan modification will add 5,219 acres of Federal coal for recovery to the approved mining plan area shown on the map included with this decision document. Approval of this mining plan modification will authorize mining of an additional 43.0 million tons of recoverable Federal coal. Approximately 2,223 acres of Federal surface lands will be included in the mining plan area as a result of this action. The post mining land use within the permit and mining plan area will not change. The CO-DRMS has placed nine (9) Special Conditions to its permitting action. An explanation of each Special Condition and the requirements for its resolution can be found in the State Decision Document made a part of this Mining Plan Decision Document. Colowyo Coal Company, L.P.'s mining plan modification does not require any additional Special Conditions to comply with Federal laws. •
