Chris Toebe
Land Use Department
2045 13th Street
Boulder, CO 80302
Re: Docket SU-99-04 Sprague Quarry
Dear Chris,
This letter is to register my interest in the Special Use Review referenced above. As owner o.
several pazcels near this proposed quarry expansion 19gpose any attempt to expand the existLig
operations or rights to quarr/.
Contrary to the position taken by the Sprague Quarry operation I do not think quarry's aze
beautiful. There is obviously economic value in extracting rock from the land, just as there is in
preserving it. I would strongly prefer the economic value of preserved land and support any
restriction on this or other quarry operations that can legally be imposed.
The reclamation efforts of the Lyons quarry operations aze historically very poor as is evident by
a quick visual inspection of ~[he ongoing damage being done to the area. While the negative
economic impact on surrounding properties is difficult to measure it is substantial, taking into
account the noise, dust, truck traffic, wear on roads and scarring of the land.
Sincerely,
~. ~_
Steven Harrison
Box 6071
Boulder, CO 80306
