The only potential for erosion problems would be associated with the drill-pads, however given the very
limited size of the pads, and the proposed drainage control measures, this potential is not significant. Upon
completion of drilling activities the pads will be reclaimed and revegetated.
POLLUTION REPORT
The proposed exploration activities will have little or no impact on local and regional air resources. The
limited vehicular traffic to and from the drill sites has minimal potential to generate any significant quantity
of dust from the existing county and ranch roads. The rotary drill-rigs will use foam water mixture and an
air mist to remove cuttings from the borings, thus minimal dust will be generated during the drilling process.
The water pollution plan focuses on the drill-sites where secondary sediment control techniques, i.e. rock
check dams, silt fence, straw bales, etc., and limited pad size will effectively control runoff and sediment
from the sites. Additionally, mud pits will be excavated at each of the drill-sites to contain any drilling
fluids used during drilling operations.
Two proposed drilling sites are within 0.25 miles of a private residence. Site CCU-001 is located
approximately 0.25 miles east of the Everett L. & Mary J. Williams property along Routt County Road S 1C.
Site CCU-002 is located approximately 0.25 miles southwest of the Leroy M. and Linda E. Wilt property
along the Yoast Mine entrance road. Exploration sites CCU-009 and CCU-010 will be located within 0.25
miles of Routt County Road 27, while site CCU-003 will be located within 0.25 miles of Routt County Road
27A. The other exploration sites are significantly farther from any county road. It is anticipated that all
drilling and related activities will occur during daylight hours, however, CCR may schedule operations on a
24-hour per day basis to assure that the activities are completed in a timely manner. It is anticipated that
drilling activities at any of these exploration sites will not last longer than 14 days, The equipment utilized
includes the following: rotary drill-rig(s), water trucks, pipe trucks, pickup trucks, and miscellaneous support
trucks.
A landscape plan is not necessary given the limited nature of the exploration activities, The information
provided in the reclamation plan addresses final site grading for the drill-pads.
RECLAMATION PLAN
Reclamation activities will begin once the drill pads aze no longer needed for coal exploration and, mud pits
are sufficiently dry to allow regrading of each site. Materials excavated for the mud pits will be used to
backfill the pits, with any excess material redistributed over the site and left in a roughed condition.
Stockpiled topsoil materials will be spread, and disturbed and reclaimed azeas will be drill or broadcast
seeded using the following seed mixture, developed in consultation with the Colorado Division of Wildlife,
which is appropriate for reclaimed rangeland sites.
Species
Mountain brome
Western wheatgrass
Slender wheatgrass
Bluebunch wheatgrass
Orchardgrass
Green needlegrass
Alfalfa
PLS Ib/acre
3.0
2.0
2.0
1.0
2.0
1.0
2.0
Total 13.0 PLS Ibs/acre (double for broadcast)
a~„„~-~r ~ romp
