During the review of Technical Revision
No. 65, I notified DWR of this revision and asked them to provide
comments. They provided me a letter dated September 17, 1993,
which I forwarded to Mountain Coal. In that letter they stated a
dam safety review may be necessary for the redesigned ponds. I
contacted DWR this week to ascertain what a dam safety review
entailed and when it was done. Mr. Alan Pierson of the DWR in
Denver, stated that the designs for MB-2R should have been reviewed
by the DWR prior to construction of the pond. Jim Norfleet of the
DWR in Montrose should be contacting you soon regarding review of
the pond designs.
Please call me if you have any questions.
S iyyce,~e l y
Christine E.
Environmenta
CEJ/007.HB2R
ion Specialist
.~
