Po:rderhorn Coai Company hzs submitted a mine plan penit application
to the Colorado t•lined Land Reclamation Board for Federal Coal Leases
C-01538, C-078049, C-02750, C-024998, and C-029889. (See Appendix I
for the legal locz*_iort of the lease areas.)
Underground coal mining operations in znd adjacent to the loose areas

Several culturzT resource inventories have been conducted :~ithin the
lease areas. They include: "An Aretiaeological Clearance of BLit
Lands for the Ca:roridge t•fining Company" (Conner 1975); "Antiquities
Inventory for Czmbrid;e t•tinirg Cc.., any: Caal Mine Portal artd Area
for Cozl mine Debris Disposed in Coal ~Cznyon and G:a1.Gulch, Carrzo,
Ca~orad~ ~gna1 ~ and Corner1977); and portions of an inventory
entitled "Fi;raT Reporr of an Are'raeolo3ical Surrey of the West Central
Colorado Coal Leases" (4ibbets~et al 1979). Ali ~otaT, over 70~ of
the lands in toe lease areas have been inventoried for cv]turaI
resources zt a clzss III level. Copies of the Corner reports are
con aired in Appendix II_ A copy of 'she Hibbets report, including
