• WEST RIDGE SUMMARY
The West Ridge Hydrologic Reconstruction Plan was completed in 1995. West Ridge has been
separated into nine different blocks for the Erosion Inventory Control Report using the terraces as
boundaries (see Exhibit 1, Sheet 2). Table 12 provides a summary of the inventory data and is
followed by a brief description of each block and corrective measures performed on each block
as a result of previous inventories. P&M personnel expect that some erosional features may
develop in the newly reclaimed areas for the next several years until vegetation begins to
establish. The terraces are performing as anticipated; existing gullies located primarily on older
non topsoiled reclamation show no sign of activity and seem to be stabilizing with vegetation
establishing along the sides and bottoms. All blocks showed significant improved from previous
years, except Block 7-8. The improved status was primarily enabled by a slow snowmelt
resulting in reduced soil movement, surface litter accumulation, flow patterning, and lack of
activity in the rills and gullies.
Table l2: West Ridge Erosion Inventory Data Summary
Area 1998 1997 1996
Block l-6 l3 35 18
Block 6-7 I8 21 18
Block 7-8 23 17 17
Block 8-9 7 18 19
•
Block 9-10 12 27 25
Block 10-11 12 23 24
Block 11-12 12 19 22
Block 12-13 12 21 21
Block 1-6
• No corrective measures taken to date.
Block 6-7
• 1996 -Gully repair.
Block 7-8
•• No corrective measures taken to date.
Block 8-9
•~ No corrective measures taken to date.
Block 9-10
• 1996 -Gully repair.
Block 10-11
•• No corrective measures taken to date.
10
