•
October 13, 1994
Mr. Gary Curtiss
State of Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
Dear Gary:
•II III III llll l~l~ I •
.: .
EJ ~ L,f'
OCT 13 ]994
First of all, I would like to thank you, Carl and Bruce for meeting with us to discuss your
inspection on September 29, 1994. It was very helpful to set down and review issues
regarding your visit.
As per our discussion and agreement in relation to the possible problem at the Ready Mixed
Aggregate Mine, we propose the following steps to address the issue to allow our company
to continue operations until an amendment to the permit can be obtained.
1) We are in the process of contacting adjacent landowners and obtain permission
to monitor their alluvial water wells and discuss any problems. One neighbor
has already been contacted and we have permission to monitor four (4) wells
upgradient of the mine. Also, we are in the process of determining whether
monitoring wells will be drilled down gradient of the mine because of the lack of
alluvial wells in this vicinity.
2) As of this morning, we have met with the consulting firm of Haley & Aldrich and
asked them to begin the initial steps to amend our mining permit, addressing
the issue of dry mining and ground water impacts on adjacent landowners. this
will clearly define the hydraulic balance of the area with respect to dewatering
and dry mining.
3) The permit boundary in question was surveyed yesterday and by Friday,
October 14, 1994, the permit boundaries will be staked with highly visible
markers.
In conclusion, I hope this letter addressed all of the divisions concerns regarding this issue
and again I thank you for your cooperation and help in resolving and going forward on this
matter.
If there are questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
Bill Timmons
Vice President
Aggregate Division
4395 WASHINGTON
P O.
