Even [hough an individual pond may have greater than 60% of its
sediment storage capacity filled, the series of ponds, treated as a single sedi-
ment control structure, has not exceeded this sediment storage criteria. Only
when the series of sediment control structures reach the 607, sediment storage
volume will cleaning of [he indivudual sediment control structures be required
by regulation.
Cleaning of individual sediment control ponds at Trapper Mine is scheduled
when 1), [he capability of.Che series of sediment control structures to meet
sediment storage criteria is restricted or, 2) enough individual ponds need
cleaning where it is economically feasible to do so. As discussed during your
visit, we do plan to clean the ponds in question Ch is summer. However, the cur-
rent situation does not represent a non-compliance condition. Please note LhaC
only one pond in No-Name Gulch has reached its 60% sediment storage volume vice
two as stated in your report.
