Supplemental Sheet

Daniels Sand Pit #2 - M-73-007
1993 Annual Report - Due January 7, 1994
Acreages: The acreages have been significantly increased over last year's report because of the
approval of the permit amendment that merged the Castle Concrete Sand Pit permit into this
permit and the inclusion of a small amount of additional acreage to the previous permit. The
affected land category includes the land that has been placed under reclamation, either temporary
or permanent.
Reclamation Categories: No additional land was placed in final reclamation this year, but
backfilling continued through the creation of more sediment basins. The creation of sediment
basins is a combination of mining operations and reclamation operations. Under the plan,
sediment pond creation is a backfilling operation and results in backfilled land as part of the
reclamation process although the actual operation of a sediment basin is a function of mining.
Operations for the coming year: Phase lE (north and south) will be initiated in the coming
year. This accounts for most of the acreage added as affected land for the next year. Additional
backfilling will continue, but it is not likely that additional land will be added to this category.
Whether additional land is added will depend upon the market in the next year and whether the
existing sediment basins can contain the volume of fines produced through the washing.
Map: Although the acreages and locations of disturbance did not change a great deal in the last
year, the merging of the Castle Sand Pit with this operation and other matters warranted
producing a new map. The map presented shows the approximate boundaries of various
categories of land. The map was produced by conversion of a scaled CAD map to the Corel
Draw program for placement of symbols and patterns to display the various categories. The
map is intended to show the approximate location of various categories of land and not the exact
locations or exact areas of each category.
