Mr. Chavez became aware that the vegetation in close proximity to this vent
was dying and he contacted Ron Thompson with Basin Resources. Mr. Cllavet has
repeatedly contacted or attempted to contact Mr. Thompson since Basin Resources, Inc.
was taking no action to correct the problem.
The noxious dischazge is apparently the same discharge lilac is killing all tltc
vegetation on the property located on Highway 12, Weston, Colorado. Certainly
monitoring the fumes is critical, however Basin Resources, Inc, should be held
accountable to tltcse property owners to return their property to the condition it was in
prior to drilling the methane vent holes. This appears to be the same problem we
experienced some yeazs ago whrn the appropriate agencies claimed to not know why ottr
vegetation was dying in the area surrounding the borehole on our property.
Please advise our T-Iouston office what is being done by the State of Colorado in
accordance with all SMACRA provisions protecting the property owners from actions
such as these by coal mining companies.
