RE: September 3, 1985 Response to Stipulations by Salt Creek Mining
I have reviewed the responses to Stipulations 7, 8, 9 and 10 for the McClane
Canyon Mine submitted by Salt Creek Mining and have the following comments.
Stipulation 7
This stipulation required Salt Creek Mining to use combined production data
from McClane and Munger in order to set a revegetation success standard for
vegetative production. A statement to this effect is in revised Section
3.4.9, though it is in connection with the annual monitoring plan.
Stipulation 8
This stipulation required the setting of woody plant density success
standards. Salt Creek Mining has accepted the Division standards as proposed.
Stipulation 9
This stipulation required the setting of a species diversity standard. The
permittee has adopted the proposed Division standard.
Stipulation 10
This stipulation required development and initiation of an annual revegetation
monitoring plan. The plan submitted is acceptable to the Division. For
clarity, it is noted that the permittee need implement the monitoring only in
years 2-8 of the extended liability period. In years 9 and 10, a full scale
sampling program will be required prior to application for bond release.
For your information, I have compiled the following table on revegetation
success criteria at the McClane Canyon Mine.
