Drilling Program Report for the Edna Mine
1992 Drill Program
Drilling Contractor: Finley Drilling Co., Inc., Raton, NM
Rig License #: uroKNOw a
All holes were rotary drilled using air mist injection to the top
of the Wadge Seam coal. All but three holes (9204, 9212 and
9219) were then cored to extract coal samples for laboratory
analysis. The rotary bit diameter was 5 1/2 inches for the first
nine holes and then 5 7/8" for the remaining holes. The core
diameter drilled was 3 inches. While several of the holes had
wet bottoms after drilling none of the holes "made" water during
drilling or after sitting afterwards until backfilled. All drill
holes were backfilled with drill cutting material to a depth of
approximately 10 feet from the collar. The holes were then
sealed with either 2 or three bags of "quickcrete" to within
three feet of the hole collar. The remainder of the hole was
then filled to the collar elevation with drill cuttings. A dozer
was then used to distribute any topsoil back over the drill sites
that was removed to level the pad. The pads were then seeded
using the mine's approved seed mix. Following are specifics for
each of the drill holes:
9201: Northing: 25381.5
Easting: 185903.4
Collar Elevation: 7493.1
Total Depth: 63.00 feet
Start Time: 7/30/92 16:30
End Time: 7/30/92 16:45
Rotary Drill: 0 - 57.83 feet;
9202: Northing: 25815.3
Easting: 183473.6
Collar Elevatiion: 7146.6
Total Depth: 58.67 feet
Rotary Drill: 0 - 54.00 feet;
9203: Northing: 26302.0
Easting: 184061.6
Collar Elevation: 7205.0
Total Depth: 57.88 feet
Rotary Drill: 0 - 52.42 feet;
9204: Northing: 26748.5
Easting: 183443.4
Collar Elevation: 7069.5
Total Depth: 70.00 feet
Core: 57.83 - 63.00 feet
Start Time: 7/28/92 15:30
End Time: 7/28/92 16:45
Core: 54.00 - 58.67 feet
Start Time: 7/29!92 08:00
End Time: 7/29/92 10:45
Core: 52.42 - 57.88 feet
Start Time: 7/29/92 11:15
End Time: 7/29!92 13:00
Rotary Drill: 0 - 70.00 feet; No Core - no coal
