C-8i-024) <br />Dear Ms. Binns: <br />Kaiser Ventures, Inc. hereby submits the plans to implement a cattle grazing and Phase II <br />sampling program at the Colorado Coal Mine #1 during the spring and summer of 1996 <br />Grazing would occur from approximately April 15 to May 15, 1996 to utilize the dominant <br />cool season grasses which exist on the site and assist in the development of warm season <br />grasses on the reclaimed area. Kaiser will stock approximately 30 cow/calf pairs during this <br />period. Mr. Don Martin of the Natural Resources Conversation Service in Walsenburg <br />concurs with the stocking rate and duration of grazing. <br />A qualitative Phase II vegetation survey will be conducted during mid to ]ate July 1996 to <br />assess the revegetation standards established for the mine and determine the success of the <br />program.
