Permit # M-1990-021
Mr. Means,
MAY 312005
D;:isron of rytlnerals and Ceolopv
1 thought tt would be good to update you on acttvlttes at Vtrgtnta Acres. Brad Taylor,
with State Pazks has advised me they are in the early stages of construction for
continuation of the trail system along the south side of the lake. He and I are going to
meet one day next week on the property and go over what I'm going to do as to reveg.
I'll see if next Tuesday, Wednesday afternoon, or next Friday works for Mr. Taylor.
When I get a date I'll call your office and see if you want to join in.
My plan is to "chip" the cut slash from the last cut stump treatment of tamarisk. Then
later this year, after I get my soil samples back, possibly amend the soil, and plant either
the seed mix the plan calls for, or if State Parks would prefer something else, get their
seed mix list to your office for review, and ask for a TR if your staff is OK with
substitutions. This location is scheduled for reveg. this fall one way or the other.
I have enclosed a message from my leader to attend a groundbreaking event on Saturday,
June 4ih. My hope is this: DMG doesn't have a problem with the trail being constructed
before my seeding. The south side of the lake did not need much seeding anyway due to
the desirable vaziety of grasses and shrubs already in place. I also enclose a map from
last annual report. This map shows the approximate location of the trail skirting the south
side of the lake.
Sincerely,
/~ti~~,~- W f~ ersJ
Brent W.
