III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
999
STATE OF COLORADO
Roy Romer, Governor
c~` . .~`
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
FRED R. BANTA, Dlreetor
DATE: September 26, 1989
T0: Ca r1 Mount ~/
FROM: Tim King /~
RE: Seneca II Annual Topography Map (Refer to Memo of August 9, 1989,
Same Title)
On September 19, 1989, I overlayed Exhibit 12-9A, "Postmine Contour Map" upon
drawing No. 0260-890260, "Annual Postmining Topography" to compare Peabody
Coal Company's approved Postmine contour to the actual Postmine contour at the
Seneca II Mine. I noticed that the contours were only sliDhtly similar. The
annual postmininD map exhibited more diversity, with both steeper and flatter
slopes and much more undulating topography.
I then transposed the cross sections A-A' through F-F' from this annual map
onto the approved map. It appears that the 43.75 foot depression that is
indicated on cross section F-F' depicts a drainage where no drainage is
approved. I mentioned this depression in my memo of the same title of
August 9, 1989. This area is near the northern end of Auger Area E and shows
an area graded in 1988. As this topography is not approved, hopefully Peabody
plans to regrade this area much closer to the approved topography in the near
future.
Paragraphs 2, 3, 4, and 5 of the previous memo of August 9, 1989 remain
unchanged.
/bdc
9980E
275 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
