<br />Introduction <br />This document is the decision package prepared by the Division of Minerals and Geology <br />(Division) for the Twin Pines No. 2 Mine. This document includes: 1) the proposed <br />decision to approve with conditions the permit renewal application; 2) a summary which <br />includes a history of the review of the permit application, a description of the mining and <br />reclamation plan; and 3) the written findings of compliance the Division has made as <br />required by the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act. Detailed information <br />concerning the findings of compliance can be found in the Regulations of the Colorado <br />Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining. <br />The Division has received an application for a permit renewal to conduct coal mining and <br />reclamation activities at the Twin Pines No. 2 Mine. The application was submitted by Twin <br />Pines Limited Investment, Inc. The mine is located on private lands within Fremont County, <br />Colorado. The legal description of the lands within the permit area is: <br />Mine Area: <br />NE'/a NW'/a, SE'/a NW'/a, NWI/a NE'/a, SW'/a NE'/a, NE'k SW'/a, <br />SE'/a SW'k, NW1,4 SE'/a, NE'/a SE'/a, SW'/a SE'/a, SE'/a SE'/a, <br />Section 2, Township 20 South, Range 70 West of the 6th P.M.; <br />consisting of approximately 120 acres. <br />Coal Sales Area: <br />Parts of the W'h NW'/a, Section 1, Township 20 South, Range 70 West of <br />the 6th P.M. <br />The USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle map titled "Rockvale" contains the described area of both <br />the mine and coal sales area. <br />Proposed Decision <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology proposes to approve with stipulations an application <br />for renewal of a valid, existing permit. <br />The application was submitted by Twin Pines Limited Investment, Inc. for the Twin Pines <br />No. 2 Mine. This decision is based on a finding that the operations will comply with all <br />requirements of the Colorado State Program as found in the Colorado Surface Coal Mining <br />Reclamation Act, C.R.S. 34-33-101 et seq., and the Regulations promulgated pursuant to the <br />Act. If no request for a formal hearing is made within thirty (30) days of the first <br />publication of the issuance of this proposed decision, then this decision becomes final. The <br />permit application, all supporting documentation and any stipulations or conditions will <br />become a binding part of the permit. <br />1 <br />
