n,~ ~7~-f7~
ANTELOPE RILL GRAVEL PIT Received
BELTA COUNTY, C000RADQ-
ACTIVE PHASE. soutb.eastern PORTION ~aN ~ 7 i998
Dcecmber 1997
DivisDnrof go Field FICA
P9inerals g Ceo1~Y
REFERENCE: Past Activity outside Permitted Area
The perimeter of the disturbed area was recently mapped with a Trimble PRO RX GPS
i»stntment having a horizontal accuracy of +/- 1 meter. The original permitted area was then
overlain with the disturbed area perheter. The irregular nature of the current permit (and 6ea5e)
bo mdary is dtte to the metes and bounds survey of the edges of the narrow ridge on top of which
hex the gravel deposit The ridge is flanked by steep sided (25°o to 80%) slopes. The surveyor
du-ing the original boundary survey allowed for additional area below the top edge of the slope to
compensate for the "day-lighting" effect of removing the gravel deposit near the edge of the ridge:
The allowance in most locations was 50 feet beyond the original edge of the ridge down the
susowtdiug slopes. The actual offset distance needed could not be fully detemtined before the
removal of dte gravel as the effect of the extremely steep side slopes relative to the sloping floor of
the gravel deposit was hard to quantify.
Irt reality day ligbtingthc gravel deposit and stabilizing the edgeoCthe ridge while remaining
with in the irregular metes and bounds boundan' located off [he side those steep slopes ~~•as difficult to
ac:onrplish in alk areas. In some. instances the recLvnation and/or stabilia~tion of the mined edge an the
steep slopes caused some disturbed areas to extend beyond the permit boundan. The areas of such
peripheral disturbance arc minimal (collectively less t1L~n 0.32 acres) and are notedmt the auached map.
Area (A) is along a very steep side slope (45°% plus), is the run out of the disturbed toe to the
natural angle of repose, iswithin i0 feet oC the permit boundary, and cncontpasses less than 0.06 xres.
Area (B) is along a steep side slope, is within 10 feet of the permit boundary, and is less than
0. LO acre.
Area (C) is a less steep uumirtcd and ntirtimally disturbed area, is now reclaitncd, is where
ecuipment blended the Flatter edge of the reclaimed area into the natural slope along the linear crest of the
ridge, is arr irregular triangular shaped azca approximately 7U feet 6y 200 feet and is less than 0_l6 acre.
Submitted By: Gl'~_/cLl~t~~_
race C Bcrtran>- n~N~~R
OFFICE
