Lorencito COaI Company, LLC we°o~ C0~81091
July 10, 2002
Kent Gorham
Division of Minerals And Geology
1313 Sherman St., Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Mr. Gorham
REC~~v~~
~~~ \ 51~
O`V`s'o~ o\ M`oeio\s eaa ~0o\o8`I
I am writing you this letter today to inform you of the activities that are taking place at Lorencito Coal
Company, LLC in Weston, Colorado.
On June 21, 2002 Lorencito Coal Company laid off -30 employees. Lorencito currently has 9
employees remaining on the payroll and continuing to perform mining activities.
Lorencito took this action due to poor market conditions. The Tennessee Valley Authority suspended
our contract due to sizing. Currently Lorencito is diligently seeking out other coal sales and
opportunities that would put all of our employees back to work.
Lorencito plans on restarting operations as soon as it acquires coal sales that will adequately support
its mining activities. We are unsure as to when exactly this may occur, but are hopeful that it will be
before the end of the year.
At this time Lorencito is planning on working on its reclamation until the end of July.
Kent if you need any other information about the activities at Lorencito please fet me know. I apologize
for taking so long to get back to you on this.
Sincerely,
Erik Addingto
Manager
