Box 1821
Colorado Springs, CO 80901
Re: Transmittal of September 10, 1992 Inspection Report,
G.E.C. Mine, C-81-037
Dear Dr. Corley,
I have enclosed the inspection report written following our
inspection of the G.E.C. Mine last Thursday. Discussions with
previous inspectors at the site revealed that the coal waste piles
near the tipple area pond as being attributable to G.E.C. and those
in the drainage as being attributable to the Black Diamond Mine
reflected the Division's historical position. However, in order to
give due consideration to your statements during the inspection, we
are reviewing the files associated with this site in their
entirety. If you have any maps, photos, or reclamation permits
which support your position, we would appreciate it if you would
share them with us.
We will let you know the outcome of our investigation when it is
completed.
Sincerely,
Catherine W. Begej '~
Reclamation Specialist
Enclosure
