Lochhead
Execmive Dnecior
hLChael B. Long
Division Director
Elam Construction has completed the reclamation regrading work at the above referrenced site.
Enclosed please find copies of the time sheets as submitted by Mr. Logue on January 27, 1999.
After recapping the sheets mto totals, I've come up with the following amount expended:
Mobilization demobilization, 23.5 hours @ $65/hr $ 1,527.50
Excavator time, 20 hours @ $97.5/lu* 1,950.00
Dozer time, 32.5 hours @ $102.625/lu* 3,335.31
Fuel truck, fite15 days @ $200/day 000 00
TOTAL $ 7,812.81
Machine time was calculated as follows: Excavator time per week cost ($2,500)
divided by 40 hours equals $62.5/hr plus operator @ $35/hr totals $97.50/hr.;
dozer weekly cost ($2,705) divided by 40 hours equals $67.625/hr. plus operator
($35/hr.) totals $102.625/ILr. Fuel & truck were kept sepazate,:...-
Elam's costs were higher than the $7,812.31 amount due to the fact that both machines were
rented exclusively for this site work on a weekly bases. On the other hand it could be argued that
site work could of been completed in 3 - ] 0 hour days either saving money via daily rental or
leaving the rest of the week available for other project work with the machines. Regardless, Elam
has defmiteiy fulfilled their obligation to CDMG and has either gone slightly or well on and
beyond their obligation, depending upon what costing figures you choose.
Earthmoving work proceeded with less hours performed that originally anticipated by both Elam
and CDMG. Site work progressed diligently without incident. No work was performed on
Thursday, January 21, 1999 due to inclimate weather. The salvage operator declined to show up
and the ore bin and other scrap metal set aside was buried at the toe of the fill. The final
regrading approximates adjacent or pre-mine contours. The site exlvbits 2:1 with slightly steeper
slopes in small aeeas. Material was initially brought up from the lower portion ofthe site where it
was cast from the cut. After uphill pushing with the dozer became ineffective, material was
brought in from the south side and finally from the upper west side. Upslope areas contained
topsoil as well which was feathered downword over the reclaimed cut. Areas of compaction were
