I plan to mill approximately 257 tons of gold/silver
ore that I mined last fall from the Apache Vein at our Cross Gold
Mine. This small mill test will be designed to bulk sample the
initial ore run and to provide metallurgical data. C will be
making a flotation concentrate which will be shipped to Cominco
smelter in Trail, B.C. The flotation process will only use
minute amounts of pine oil and Z-11 (biodegradable X~snthate) .
I will be maintaining a pH in the mill water of 9 with soda ash.
The tailings will be deposited in a small excavated basin in
impervious Pierre shale. There will be no water discharge and
the water will evaporate. Upon completion of the mill test, I
plan to cover the tailings sand with several feet of Pierre
shale. I will be doing a composite sample of the tailings sand
for future reference. Last summer, I allowed Western Mobile
Pre-Mix to deposit several thousand yards of Pierre shale
immediately west of this small tailings pond. I will use this
material to cover the sand. I have enclosed photographs showing
the deposition site. The large uplift north of the pond is the
impervious basalt dike.
If this small mill test works successfully, Hendricks Mining will
make application by February to build a new tailings pond area at
the Boulder Mill to accommodate 2,000 to 3,000 tons of tailings
deposition which, upon approval, would start next April. I will
come in to meet with you sometime in January to discuss what is
required for such a permit. If you have any questions or require
any additional information, please feel free to contact me.
Mailing Address: Post Office Box 653-Caribou • Nederland, Colorado 80466-0653
Phone; Office-Boulder 303443-1502 Mine 303-258-3806 Fax u 303-443-6601
