j.
Bob Liddle -2- id ay 13, 1983
3. The application does not contain a proposed species diversity success
standard. Based on the cover data contained within the application and
the revegetation plan, I suggest the following standard:
The reclaimed surface should include at least 3 cool season
perennial grasses and 1 perennial forb with relative cover equal to or
greater than 3%. The combined relative cover should not exceed 8U% and
no one species should comprise greater than 60',6.
4. No specific reve4ation monitoring plan is described in the
application. Measurements of woo y p an ensity and vegetation cover
the first and third growing seasons following reseeding, at intensities
equivalent to pre-mine sampliny would be sufficient to evaluate the
potential of achieving reveyetation success.
5. Since the past-mine land use is undeveloped land there is no need
for "a post-mining management olan for the reclaimed areas" as specified
by dr~L vLinuiaLinn nn. n.
6. I would recommend removal of rubber rabbitbrush from the seed rnix,
since it is an aggressive invader species which rapidly colonizes small
disturbances, such as at Somerset, via wind blown seed from adjacent
stands. There are several introduced species in the seed mix, but they
are included at low enough seeding rates as to allow for a primarily
native revegetated stand. The seed mix as presented, with the deletion
of rubber rabbitbrush, is acceptable.
/tlh
Doc. No. 2726
