3. Production; Herbaceous Production in a woody community. Ninety
percent of the reference area value at 90 percent confidence will
be reestablished in all three vegetation communities .
4. Species Diversity;
a. Greasewood Shrubland
- Two perennial shrub species
- One perennial forb species
- Two perennial grass species , one warm season and one cool
season
b. Shadscale Shrubland
- One perennial shrub species
- One perennial forb species
- Two perennial forb species , one warm season, one cool season .
c . Greasewood/Shadscale Shrubland
- Two perennial shrub species
- Two perennial forb species
- Two perennial grass species , one warm season and one cool
season .
d. In all vegetation types , no one species shall comprise greater
than 40 percent relative cover nor less than 3 percent relative
cover.
5. Woody Plant Density Criteria are :
a. One thousand stems per acre for reclaimed areas which were
originally Greasewood Shrubland .
b. Eight hundred stems per acre for reclaimed areas which were
originally shadscale shrubland.
c. One thousand stems per acre for reclaimed areas that were
originally greasewood/shadscale Shrubland.
Table 2.05.4B-1 in the permit illustrates the seed mix that will be
used to reclaim CRDA Nos . 2 and 3. The Division feels this seed mix
offers adequate diversity at seeding to potentially achieve the
diversity success criteria. The requirements of Stipulation No. 5 have
been met.
1 . The Division has approved the use of introduced species in the
reclamation seed mix. The permittee has submitted information
which shows that the introduced species are desirable and necessary
to achieve the approved post-mining land use , and are not poisonous
or noxious (4. 15.2) .
2. The Division has approved the use of straw mulch as a means to meet
soil stabilization requirements (4. 15.4) .
3. Methods to measure herbaceous cover and production , species
diversity, and woody plant density are discussed in 2 .05.4 Volume I
of the permit. These techniques include random transects to
determine cover by species taken to sample adequacy. Total
herbaceous production will be estimated by clipping current year
-35-
