i
• Revegetation Success

The proposed post-mining land uses for the Golden Eagle Mine are irrigated hayland
and grassland. The areal distribution of these land uses is shown on Figure 2.
Target levels for evaluating revegetation of irrigated layland are presently being
developed. WFC supplies the Division with annual irrigated hayland production figures
from lands adjacent to the mine water in-take pond and sediment Pond 003. At the end of
the five (5) year term, WFC will average these production figures. The mean production
shall constitute the target level for evaluating revegetation success. Revegetation
production shall be considered equal if it is at least 90 percent of the mean target level
with 90 percent statistical confidence.
Grassland areas falling under the requirements of Section 4.15.10 shall be considered
reclaimed when the ground cover is equal or greater than 22 percent. Twenty-two (22)
percent is taken from Page 22 of Exhibit 12 of the Golden Eagle Permit Application.
Twenty-two (22) percent was the mean cover value obtained from the Golden Eagle
• reference area during 1981 vegetation studies.
Grassland areas falling under the requirements of Section 4.15.8 shall meet the
following criteria:
1. Herbaceous cover shall be at least 90 percent of the cover as determined from the
Golden Eagle grassland reference area with 90 percent statistical confidence.
2. Herbaceous productivity shall be at least 90 percent of the productivity as
determined from the Golden Eagle grassland reference area with 90 percent
statistical confidence.
3. Species composition will be deemed adequate when the reclaimed land consists of a
mixture of the same seasonal variety and will support the post-mining land use as the
Golden Eagle reference area.
•
-10-
