• Additional Vegetation Sampling
Because of questionable mapping, the large areal extent of Ponderosa pine-oak south
of the surface disturbance area, the limited disturbance shown on recent photos and no 4~
m
additional disturbance planned in this community, WFC requests the Division to remove ~`
any additional sampling requirements. In addition, WFC has no plans to reclaim
Ponderoda pine-oak community. WFC will commit to resample in the Willow carr
(riparian) community. WFC will resample the Willow carr (riparian) reference area, but
no affected areas as proposed in Stipulation 21 will be sampled or compared to the
reference area as none exist. WFC will sample the Willow carr (riparian) according to
specifications approved by the Division. These specifications will be incorporated into
this draft after discussions with the Division.
Topsoil Planning and Post-Mine Land Uses
The areas of surface disturbance to be reclaimed by WFC are shown on Figure 1.
The proposed post-mining land uses are shown on Figure 2. Figure 1 was prepared to
• facilitate topsoil planning. No topsoil or subsoil has been removed except in the area of
Pond 004. This topsoil pile is east of the active waste dump and contains approximately
6100 yd3. Figure 1 shows areas of limited disturbance where vegetation has invaded or
was never disturbed. WFC believes it is unnecessary and unwise to redisturb these areas
as they are currently stable. Areas which were considered disturbed with and without
refuse are also delineated on Figure 1. Soil samples were taken during the week of July
11, 1985 to a depth of ~8 nches. {The sample locations are shown on Figure 1. Soil and
waste analyses results will be submitted to the Division.
It is WFC's intent to cover all areas of waste with 4 to 6 inches of topsoil. In those
areas of disturbance with no waste, WFC plans only to loosen the soil by ripping and
prepare the seedbed using standard reclamation practices. - -.. ~ ---
-..-. . ~,~ . l
•
-4-
