IVlinor
access roads and piping that would serve only isolated, second-pass wells would not be
constructed until necessary during the second pass.
A representative solution mining well development schedule for the first 6 years of
commercial operations is provided in Table 2-2. There are a number of factors that may
affect the precise number of wells developed during yeazs 0, 1, and 2. As indicated in
the table, American Soda plans to develop about 26 wells for the initial operations and
a total of an estimated 94 cumulative wells during the first 5 yeazs of commercial
operations.
Construction of the surface facilities at the Piceance Site is anticipated to be completed
by spring/eazly summer 2000. Facility startup is anticipated to occur in fa112000.
Table 2-2 Representative Solution Mining Well Development and Operation
- Schedule for the First 6 Years of Commercial Operations.
Year of
Commercial
Operations Number of
Wells at
Beginning
of Yeaz Number of
Wells Drilled
During Yeaz Number of
Wells Retired
During Year Number of
Wells Available
for Production
at End of Year - Cumulative
Total
Number of
Wells
Develo ed
0 2 24 0 ~ 26 26
1 26 S 0 34 34
2 34 15 15 34 49
3 34 15 15 34 64
4 34 15 15 34 79
5 34 15 15 34 94
6 34 15 15 34 109
2.1.2 Access and Services
2.1.2.1 Access
A main access road will be constructed from Rio Blanco County Road 5 (Piceance Creek
Road} to the Piceance Site processing plant. The access road will be a 24-foot-wide
asphalt road with 4-foot-wide shoulders and 3-or 4-foot-wide azeas for drainage
ditches and berms, for a total width of 38 to 40 feet.
