This request
increases the number of start-up and production wells from 26 to 34. The increase
in the number of wells may be needed to supplement the production during the
initial mining phase. Once the wells have expanded and production of nahcolite
increases from the wells, a reduced rate will be used to manage cavity growth.
This-revision does not change impacts analyzed in the EIS for the Yankee Gulch
Sodium Minerals Project and is therefore approved.
Prior to drilling any additional wells appropriate bonding will be required.
If there any questions, please contact Paul Daggett at (970) 878-3601.
Sincerely,
//~L/L /1s-cam/ /~v~"`
e James Cagney
Associate Field Manager
~`'_
cc: Mr. Dan Jackson
United States Environmental Protection Agency
999 18th Street - Suite 500 _
Mail Code 8WM-DW
Denver, CO 80202-2466 -
Mr. Allen Sorenson ~ ~-~
Colorado Division Minerals and Geology_ _ ____ f
Department of Natural Resources '
1313 Sherman St. , Room 215 Sp~ecialist: ESC
Denver, CO 80203 -~ennit#: M1999002
Class: (~,°ylerCt.Q ~aS
Vim: ~~
~c.
