Crosby
Division of Minerals & Geology
1313 Sherman St.
Denver CO 80203
Dear Ms. Crosby:
We have reviewed Amendment 1 to the RN-GOAL-MINES-8 Invitation and Bid
Document and have the following comments.
The sediment to be removed from pond A cannot be stockpiled 800 feet
north. It would have to be moved about 2000 feet south to be southeast
of Chen's hill.
We asked you to consult Energy Fuels about leaving the 30" CMP with
crushed ends in the Magpie diversion bank. When we talked to Randy Acre
of Energy Fuels, he asked that the culvert be removed. Therefore, we
wish to have that culvert completely removed and not left in place with
crushed ends.
With regard to the hydrology designs of the proposed West pit clean and
disturbed diversion and culvert, it would appear that incorrect data
have been used. The Division has always considered a 10 year event to
be 2.8 inches. As we have asked several times in the past, without
response, what is the correct 10 year, 24 hour event? Also, several
different curve numbers have been used. Sdhat are the correct curve
numbers for the West pit and for the watershed draining into the no name
drainage? The culvert length was shortened from 48' to 45' for the 100
year event calculations. There is no information regarding the source of
the volume of water to be carried by the clean water diversion ditch.
Please give us the calculations for the stated 88 cfs volume.
Sincerely,
W.D. Corley, J
~v~~~
President
