Lovell
Division of Wildlife
6060 Broadway
Denver, CO 80216
RE: Basin Resources NOI X-92-213-00; Threatened and Endangered
Species Statement
Dear Mr. Lovell,
Per our phone conversation on March 10, 1993, I am sending you a
copy of the map locating the Northern drill holes approved under X-
92-213-00. Apparently there has been some confusion as to the
Threatened, Endangered, and Sensitive Species Statement prepared by
the Division of Wildlife. Ron Thompson of Basin Resources stated
that DOW was only concerned with the drill holes located South of
the Purgatoire River, and that the statement does not apply with
the Northern Drill Holes. The Division was not aware that DOW did
not have a copy of the drill holes located in the North portion,
and the Division assumed that the report was for the entire
drilling location. The Legal Description is as follows:
T33S R68W Sections 1, 12
T33S R67W Sections 6, 8
Basin Resources was found in violation of permit X-92-213-00 for
drilling past the deadline as specified by DOW. The Division is
requesting that DOW review the map locating the Northern Drill
Holes to determine if there is a significant impact on Threatened
and Endangered species in that area. This statement will be
considered by the Division in making the determination of the
seriousness of drilling in the Northern Region past the specified
deadline.
I would appreciate a response prior to March 15, 1993, the date of
the extended assessment conference. The Fax number at the Division
of Minerals and Geology is (303) 832-8106.
